Elections Commission of the Maldives has fined Adhaalath Party and DRP by MVR 50,000. They were fined for failure to submit their yearly audit reports as per the law.

EC revealed that they had fined PPM along with Adhaalath and DRP as well.

PPM has been fined by MVR 20,000 since their auditor had noted that their finances were in violation to the political parties act. The person who has been oveerseeing their financial transactions has also been fined by MVR 5,000.

Four parties had submitted their audit reports within the given deadline. These were PPM, MDP, MDA and JP.

Currently there are nine parties registered at the EC. However, three of these parties do not need to submit their audit reports this year since it hasn't been an year to the inception of the party. These parties are MTD, Labour Party and PNC.
