President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has nominated two candidates for the post of Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation, and has submitted them to the Parliament for approval.

The President had nominated Fathimath Ameeza, Cozy Round, GDh. Gadhdhoo and Asma Shafeeu, Vaijeheyge, HA. Ihavandhoo for the role.

The President’s Office opened the nomination process as incumbent Asma’s term expires on the 31st of this month.

According to the Administrative Taxation Act, the Board of Directors of MIRA will consist of seven members including the Tax Commissioner and the Deputy Tax Commissioner. The term of office of each member is five years.

The names of the two nominees for the post of Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation have been referred to the Economic Committee of Parliament for further consideration.
