Hassan Ziyau, the Media and Communications Director of the Parliament, has been sacked from the position on Monday.

Ziyau was dismissed for violating the Code of Conduct of the Parliamentary Service. Ziyau also confirmed this to the media.

However, in a message to the media, Ziyau said his post was not political and he was dismissed without giving proper notice in violation of the Parliamentary Service Code.

"The Parliamentary Administration officials are the ones who have fired me on the pretext of violating the code of conduct, especially because I have been talking against many decisions of the Secretary General Fathimath Niusha, Deputy Secretary General Mohammed Rasheed, Head of Administration Ahmed Faiz and Director Foreign Relations Zuyyina Badri. I think it is to appease jealousy and because I have refused to sign some procurement requests that are back dated," Ziyau stated.

He said he would refer the matter to the Employment Tribunal, the Human Rights Commission and the General Committee of Parliament.
