Three people have been injured after a battery on board a launch at the Hulhumale’ harbour exploded.

The injured are being treated at the Hulhumale’ Hospital.

Maldives Police Service confirmed that three people have been injured in a battery explosion on board the MTCC Express 1 launch at a wooden jetty at Hulhumale’ after a spark while changing the switch on the patrol pump.

Police said that the incident was reported around 11:15 a.m. this morning and two of the three people injured sustained burns on their hands and face.
