In light of the recent vape ban, the law is set to be amended to introduce substantial fines for those who import or sell vape equipment in the Maldives.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has officially banned the import of vaping materials and their individual components to the Maldives, effective from November 15, 2024. The decision was made by President Dr Muizzu yesterday.

Following this move, the Attorney General's Office has drafted a bill proposing a fine of MVR 5,000 for individuals caught using a vape. Those found selling or distributing vapes for free will face a fine of MVR 20,000 for each vape sold or given away.

Additionally, the bill includes a fine of MVR 50,000 for anyone caught selling or providing vapes, vaping equipment, or parts to minors.
