The Maldives has entered into an agreement with Saudi Arabia aimed at enhancing trade and economic cooperation between the two nations.

The agreement was signed by Maldives’ Minister of Economic Affairs, Mohamed Saeed, while Saudi Arabia was represented by Commerce Minister and General Authority of Foreign Trade Board Member, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah al-Ghasabi. The signing took place during Minister Saeed’s visit to Riyadh.

In a statement, the Ministry of Economic Affairs highlighted that the agreement would strengthen bilateral relations and promote foreign investment. The ministry added that both countries will continue to enhance collaboration in key sectors such as trade, tourism, and construction.

Following the signing, Minister Saeed emphasised that the agreement symbolises the long-standing friendship between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia. He further stated that the partnership would support President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s long-term economic vision for the Maldives.
