President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has sent a message of condolence to the Prime Minister of the Australia Scott Morrison, following the death of Former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke.

“It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke this Thursday. The former Prime Minister exemplified the best traditions of statesmanship, blending a high-minded commitment to public service, with a convivial nature and genuine empathy that appealed to ordinary people," the message read.

Australians and the rest of the world will always remember Prime Minister Hawke's dedication towards social and environmental causes, in particular his determination to end poverty in Australia and give workers their due, the President added in his message.

He expressed his sincere condolences to the former Prime Minister's family and friends and also his deepest sympathies to Australian nationals mourning the loss of a beloved figure who had been part of Australias political landscape and influenced it for the better over so many years.
