Fasooha Ahmed has set a new national record in the women's 1500m race at the ongoing National Athletics Championships 2024.

Fasooha also won gold in the women's 800m final. She won gold medal in the event with a timing of 2 minutes, 15.96 seconds. The silver medal in the event was bagged by Zeke Ashraf Rashid of the Track and Field Association, who clocked two minutes, 30.58 seconds. Shamha Ahmed of Island Runners Maldives won the gold medal in the event. She clocked two minutes and 33.27 seconds to finish the race.

Fasooha also holds the national 800m record. She set the record in the 1,500m event this evening.

Fasooha finished the race in 5 minutes, 03.51 seconds. She held the previous record when she clocked five minutes, 04.02 seconds at the National Grand Prix in December last year. Earlier, the record was held by Aishath Jaisha Juniz of the Track and Field Association. At the National Grand Prix, 2021, Jaisha set the record with a timing of 5 minutes, 05.36 seconds.

In other final events at the National Athletics Championships today, Ibadullah Adam, who won the men's 100m gold yesterday, also won the 200m gold today. He clocked 21.69 seconds to finish the race. Mohammed Minhal Shamin (Minko), the silver medallist in the event, clocked 22.00 seconds. Ahmed Najdan Abdulla of Maldives Army Club won the gold medal with a time of 22.17 seconds.

Ahna Nizar, who won the women's 100m gold yesterday, also won the gold in the 200m event today. She clocked 25.10 seconds to finish the race. Aishath Himna Hassan won the silver medal in the event with a time of 25.86 seconds. The event's law medallist, Ziva Moosa Shafiu clocked 26.47 seconds.

Aishath Aini Mohammed won the gold medal in the women's shot put. Hussain Fazil Haroon, who also won the gold medal yesterday, won the 800m men's gold today. He clocked two minutes, 2.32 seconds to finish the race. Ahmed Visam bagged the silver medal in the event. Abdulla Ikram won the gold medal in the event.
