Supreme Court Justice Ali Rasheed Hussain will retire with honour from his post on 1 December, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced.

The JSC said the judge had requested retirement under Article 27 of the Judges Act and the Judges’ Retirement Regulation.

The Commission approved his retirement at a meeting held on 28 October, following a review of the requirements under the retirement regulation.

The JSC also said procedures to fill the Supreme Court vacancy have begun in accordance with Article 17 of the Judges Act.
