A case of a woman with special needs being tied to a lamppost, after being masked by a sack.

The incident is said to have happened in Sh. Feydhoo, and photos of said woman has been circling around on social media.

Deputy Mayor of Feydhoo Council revealed to One Online that the woman had been tied to the lamppost last Monday night, and that the people behind it are yet unknown.

Reports regarding the same woman has previously been brought to the attention of relevant authorities. While she has a husband and five children, most of her children also with special needs like the mother.

The council added that the woman was still in the island and that it was unclear as to whether any relevant authority had visited the island or taken any action regarding this matter.

Media Official of the Ministry of Gender, Ibrahim Mohamed revealed to One Online that the Ministry has received the reports and that works were underway to transfer the woman to the special needs center in Guraidhoo, with the assistance of Police and the island council.
