A power outage in Nilandhoo since morning has left the islanders with great inconveniences.

Speaking to One Online. F. Nilandhoo Island Council's Mayor, Mohamed Jaleel revealed that the dynamo of the 400 kw engine had been damaged around 10:30pm this morning. Even though two more engines are in place, damages to the panel has left them with no solution to power the island completely.

As of now, power is being rationed out between four wards in the island, with each ward alternating every four hours through one 400 kw engine.

Jaleel noted that the damaged engine will be shipped to the capital around 11:00pm for repairs, which may take up to a week for completion. He added that they have requested the government to aid in bringing a solution to the issue at hand and noted that the government was working towards a common goal.
