Maldivian athlete Ali Sham Rafiu has advanced to the second round of the Visit Maldives Pro 2024 as part of the IBC World Bodyboarding Tour.
Visit Maldives Pro 2024 officially launched with a special ceremony held at the Raalhugandu yesterday. The competitive heats of the tournament started this morning, with Maldivian athletes Amin Umar Musa and Ahmed Nazmin progressing to the second round.
Sham went on to finish second in the heat he competed in with a score of 9.1 in the heat. Morocco's Sami Laby won the heat while Mohammed Kaif finished third in the heat with a score of 7.3. Irwin Clore placed at the bottom of the heat.
In the second round, Nazmin will compete in the first heat of the round. Amin will compete in the fourth heat of the round and Sham will compete in the fifth heat.
Visit Maldives Pro 2024, which runs until the 9th of this month, will feature a total of 86 athletes from 14 countries.
One Sports has been appointed as the online media partner of the tournament this year and will provide special coverage of the tournament.
