The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has given the last chance to remove chairs and tables placed in the sidewalks by Cafés and Restaurants in various areas of Hulhumalé.

Using the sidewalk for such commercial purposes is prohibited in the city. Therefore, HDC ordered the removal of the items on November 15th last year, with a second appeal to remove them on July 24th. However, many people did not respond and defied their request.

The corporation has now issued a final appeal to remove the chairs and tables placed on the sidewalks before the 10th of this month.

A statement by HDC noted that if the items are not removed by that date, HDC will remove them and clean up the area and will not be responsible for any damage caused to the property.
