Another case involving Newport has been scheduled for today at the Civil Court.

After the contract for Newport View was terminated, the company who owns Newport View, Strada Pvt. Ltd. has filed suit against the Planning Ministry and the hearing was scheduled for 11 a.m. today.

The past three suits filed by Strada Pvt. Ltd. regarding Newport was ruled in their favor by the Civil Court last month. The Court ruled the contracts remained valid.

Managing Director of Strada Pvt. Ltd., Zahid Rameez has previously said that the government ordered to clear the Newport View land near the bridge before the investment was even covered. And for that reason, terminating the contract before the duration of the agreement was up was not a valid decision.

The government ordered Strada Pvt. Ltd. to clear the land on 11 March 2019. The chain of Newport restaurants are run by Strada Pvt. Ltd. Sources say that Zahid Rameez resigned from his position in the company and now it is run my his wife.

Strada Pvt. Ltd. company was contracted to three years for Newport View including the platform before the agreement was extended to eight years.
