Criminal Court has sentenced a man to 23 years and 10 months in prison and imposed a fine of MVR 100,000 for smuggling cannabis.

The criminal court had convicted Ahmed Sathiu, Maradhoo, in the case.

Police arrested him with drugs from a boat in North Harbour where he was believed to be departing from Male' city.

Apart from the 23 years and 10 month prison sentence, Criminal Court ordered him to pay the MVR 100,000 fine to MIRA within months.
