Chairperson of MDP, Hassan Latheef has said that there is no companies owned by the MDP Secretary.

Latheef made the remark after the Deputy Leader of the People’s National Congress, Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik said that the government pledge to provide breakfast meals to students is a program that benefits a company that belongs to MDP.

Responding to the allegation by Nihan, Hassan Latheef took to Twitter stating that MDP is a political party.

Following the announcement by some schools looking for a company to provide the breakfast meals, Nihan said that the students of Ameeniya School does not use the packet and egg provided as breakfast and that students discard the egg and the help at the school takes them home.

He insinuated that the breakfast program is an injustice to benefit a company owned by MDP.

Education Ministry has opened a bid to all valid candidates to provide breakfast to students. Bid candidates can register at the schools they want to provide, between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. starting today.

The information session on the project is set for Sunday, 19 May 2019 at the respective schools at 11 a.m. Bids are to open on 23 May according to the Education Ministry.

Breakfast for school students is a campaign pledge from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for the first 100 days of his presidency. The program has started at 25 schools so far.
