Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath has said that the alleged corruption regarding him was false.

Riffath's statement came in a tweet, which refuted Alhan Fahmy's claims that Riffath had been involved in a corruption case.

Last Thursday Alhan claimed that Ahmed Abdulla Afeef who is the legal director at President’s Office and AG Ibrahim Riffath had jointly demanded a bribe of USD 2 million from his client Dheebajaa. Alhan had also publicized a letter which claims to have in writing Riffath requesting the Supreme Court for a settlement outside the court.

Refuting this, Riffath had said that he had never demanded a bribe during the entirety of his career. He added that he has always tried to be honest in his work and do it to his full potential. Refuting the corruption claims, Riffath added that he will work towards making government offices corruption free.

Supreme Court had ordered the state to pay Dheebajaa MVR 348.10 million in damages.
