Criminal Court has given a remand period of seven days to the bus driver, who was arrested after running over a Ukrainian national which resulted in her death shortly afterwards.

Criminal Court added seven more days to his remand period after the initial three days were complete.

Maldives Police Service has said that the accident is believed to happen after the bus driver fell asleep behind the sleep. The Ukrainian woman is said to be dead after she was run over by the bus.

The body of the 31 year old woman has since been handed over to her family.
