Maldives Police Service has said that they have received information that the accident in Hulhumale on Thursday, where a bus had run into a taxi and motorcycle was due to the driver falling asleep behind the wheel.
Police revealed that the accident occurred around 2:30pm on Thursday afternoon, near Valhomas Cafe' in Nirolhu Magu. An MTCC bus, a taxi and a motorcycle had crashed into each other during the accident.
They added that no one was hurt during the accident, though the bus and the car had been damaged pretty heavily.
Police had initially revealed that the accident was not reported to the police - which was confirmed by Police Media after questioning various departments. However, it was reported to Police later during the evening.
A Ukrainian national had succumbed to injuries sustained after being run over an MTCC bus a few days earlier. That accident was, according to police, because the driver fell asleep behind the wheel.
