The Table Tennis Association of Maldives (TTAM) has announced that only its president Ali Rasheed (Ayya) has contested the election to be held next month.

The TT Association Executive Committee meeting held on June 2nd decided to hold the election on the 10th of next month. The deadline for nominations was 2:00 pm today, according to the TT Association.

When the deadline for applications expired, only one person applied for each position.

Ayya is running for president, while incumbent Ibrahim Shiuri is running for vice-president. Shiuri was recently appointed as the Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations (MMPRC).

Ahmed Shazil for treasurer, Aishat Fadhwa Rasheed for female member representing full members in executive committee, umpire Azzam Ibrahim for male member representing full members in executive committee, Jadullah Hassan for male member representing club associations in executive committee and associate members in executive committee Ismail Sujao as the representative member.

Ayya, who has been appointed as Maldives' Chief De Missionary for this year's Olympics, served as the TT Association's Vice President from 2006 to 2008. He was first elected president, unopposed, in 2016, winning the election. While the 2020 election was competitive, he was re-elected for a second term.
