Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has met with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
In a tweet sent out on Wednesday, Minister Shahid confirmed that he met with Ranil and discussed on visa issues and combating terrorism.
"Pleasure to meet PM [Ranil Wickremesinghe] today. Assured Maldives solidarity with the people and Government of Sri Lanka. Discussed cooperation on visa issues and countering terrorism, among others," Shahid said in his tweet.
Sri Lankan government announced on Tuesday that those who wish to change their residency to Sri Lanka needs to obtain a resident visa before arrival to the country. However tourist visa policies remain unchanged as of now.
During Minister Shahid's visit, he had also met with Speaker of Sri Lankan Parliament Karu Jayasuriya. During this meeting, he conveyed well wishes from the people of Maldives to the people of Sri Lanka and exchanged views on the parliament and legislative agendas of our respective countries
