Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has said that he will try to find a solution for the issue where Maldivians are required to obtain a resident visa before arrival to Sri Lanka.

Sri Lankan government had announced that due to current domestic security situation in Sri Lanka, all nationalities including Maldivians will require to obtain resident visa prior to arrival, effective 15 May.

However there is no change for on arrival tourist visa for Maldivians visiting Sri Lanka.

Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid who departed to Sri Lanka today added that discussions regarding this would be held with senior officials of Lanka, including the Prime Minister.

Minister Shahid traveled to Lanka on an official trip.
