Criminal Court has added 15 days to the remand duration of those arrested from a boat while trafficking drugs in Maldivian waters.

According to Maldives Police Service, seven people were arrested from the Iran boat after a joint operation by MPS and MNDF. All arrested are being held for drug trafficking. Police also confirmed that they will be remanded for 15 days as per a decision by the court.

About 51 kilos of drugs have been seized from the boat, while works are still underway to search the boat completely. Drugs were hidden in a compartment underneath an additional layer of fiber to hide them.

Police is investigating the case further.
