HRCM team mobilized after man dies in state custody

A team from the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) has been mobilized after a man has died while in the custody of the state.

HRCM made a statement on Twitter today saying that the Rapid Response Team of HRCM is attending to the death of a man who passed away today in the custody of the Home for People with Special Needs (HPSN) at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

The man who died in the early hours of this morning was at the HPSN in Kaafu atoll Guraidhoo.

The Rapid Response Team (RRT) of HRCM is attending to the death of a man who had passed away on 06.05.2019 while being treated at IGMH. He was in state care at the Home for People with Special Needs (HPSN).
