Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has started training exercises with explosives.

The exercises began at 8 a.m. today in Male’ City at the Carnival Stage Area and the exercise began near the Hulhumale’ HQ at 10 a.m.

MNDF said that exercises are being conducted at different parts of the city and the afternoon segment of the program would begin at 1:15 at the Male’ Industrial Zone.

Following the recent string of bombings in the neighboring Sri Lanka, security measures have been increased in the region and the Maldives has been strengthening their security as well.

And so yesterday, the head of state institutes discussed the threats to national security.

The National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC) has advised the public to report any potential connection to terrorism by dialing 1615.
