MNDF Coastguard Second Squadron has begun a program to check all marine vessels for safety in time for Eid holidays.

MNDF announced on Friday that the program will be carried out from 28th to 30th April, as well as on the 6th and 7th of May. The marine vessels are being checked for safety protocols as a great number of citizens will be travelling to atolls during Eid holidays.

Marine vessels will be checked for their Marine VHF as well as whether the vessel captains have license to operate marine vessels.

The program commenced at the harbour area in Male' on Thursday night and will be carried out at different times on the allocated days. As such, vessels entering and leaving Male' harbour will be checked for their safety protocols.

MNDF has also advised travellers to be cautious of the weather when travelling by sea.
