Ministry of Foreign Affairs have said that it was not advisable for Maldivians in Sri Lanka to be in crowds yet, following the bomb blasts that killed hundreds in the country just last month.

Speaking to One Online, Director of Communications at the Foreign Ministry, Miuvan Mohamed said that even though there are no attacks now, it is better to act upon the previous instructions given to Maldivians.

This includes staying indoors during nights, staying away from crowds and giving full cooperation to the security forces of Sri Lanka regarding the investigations. He added three Maldivians are still being remanded in Sri Lanka and that the Ministry was keeping close tabs on their situation.

He revealed that two will be presented to a remand hearing on May 10 while the other will one produced to the court for a remand hearing on May 6.

Death toll in the terror attack has now risen to 250, and several hundred has been arrested during the special operation following the attack.

Several families living in Sri Lanka had returned back to the Maldives after schools were shut down and the country entered a state of emergency. Schools are expected to re-open on May 6 with additional security being provided to all institutions.
