PPM has expressed their concern over the government’s failure to protect the rights of workers.

In a statement released by PPM in relation to World Labour Day, the party expressed concern since the government has failed to protect the rights of workers in accordance to international treaties that the Maldives are a part of.

The statement also noted that there were great concerns for workers who had different political views than the ruling one.

PPM also highlighted that it was sad that the government celebrated Labour Day when thousands of workers across the country were being treated inappropriately and when finding a new job has become extremely difficult.

They also added that the past five years were great in terms of protecting worker’s rights and were essential in creating thousands and thousands of new jobs.
