Labour Relations Authority has said that they have noticed that Ramadan Allowances were not being given out.

A statement released by the Authority on Tuesday noted that under inspections to check whether the employment act was being acted upon properly, the Authority had noticed that employers were not giving out the Ramadan Allowance as stated in the Employment Act. They added that even though some employers were giving out the allowance, it was not the amount that is stated in the act.

The Authority has since requested all employers to pau Ramadan allowances to their employees.

According to the Employment Act, all employed Maldivians should be given a MVR 3,000 allowance before Ramadan begins each year.
