The last sitting of the 18th session of parliament has gone to recess for a “Maahefun”; a pre-Ramadan traditional feast in Maldives.
The sitting was initially set to begin at 9 a.m. today but was delayed for not meeting the quorum and began at 10 a.m. with the debate on the Human Rights Commission amendment proposed by MP Ali Azim representing the Mid-Henveiru constituency.
At 10:27, the parliament was brought to recess by the Speaker of Parliament, Qasim Ibrahim stating that a parliament “Maahefun” is set for today. He said that President Ibrahim Moahmed Solih would be joining it as well. Qasim said that President Solih served as the MP for Hinnavaru constituency in the 18th session of parliament and the Leader of the MDP Parliamentary Group.
Speaker of the Parliament said that the parliament sitting would resume at 11:30 a.m.
