Baarah MP and Vice President of PNC has said that the first goal was to find 18,000 members for the party within two months.

Speaking to One Online, Shujau revealed that all Vice Presidents were tasked with their responsibilities during the council meeting held on Sunday. These included increasing the number of registered members of the party.

He noted that the party was working very closely with PPM and stressed that the former ruling party would not lose its members in their bid to increase members for PNC.

Shujau reiterated their goal of bringing the total number of registered PNC members to 18,000 members. According to the Elections Commission of the Maldives, there are 8,000 members in PNC as of now.

While PNC was formed with the full support of former President Abdulla Yameen, the party held its first congress this past weekend. As such, Baarah MP Ibrahim Shujau, Vilimale MP Ahmed Nihan, former Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed and Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) were elected as the four Vice Presidents of the party.

In addition to this, Maduvvari MP Elect, Adam Shareef was appointed as the Parliamentary Group leader of the party. Geela Ali has also been appointed as the Secretary General of the party.
