Dh. Kudahuvadhoo Council has revealed that the island is to receive a temporary solution to their electricity issues this week, although hopes of finding a proper and permanent solution seemed far away.

The island has been battling an electricity crisis for nearly a month now.

Speaking to ‘One Online’, council member Ahmed Mauroof noted that the electricity issues occurred after a problem in the dynamo of the generator. According to him, a temporary solution would be found when a new dynamo is installed – which will arrive in the island in the next couploe of days.

He added that even now different areas of the island experience power outages from time to time and that talks are being carried out with the government t to find a more permanent solution for the issue.

Mauroof revealed that works were being carried out to bring a new generator to the island and believes that the installation of a new generator will bring about a permanent solution to the electricity crisis the island faces today.
