Nihan bids farewell to PPM, joins PNC

Former Parliamentary Group Leader of PPM, and sitting Villimale MP, Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik has bid farewell to PPM and joined the recently formed opposition, People’s National Congress (PNC).

Nihan had recently stepped down as the PG Leader for PPM, and strongly criticized the leadership of the party, which was once considered as one of strongest political parties in the country.

Interim President of PNC, and Fonadhoo MP Abdul Raheem Abdulla said that the decision by Nihan to join congress party was a great move for the party and its political standing. He had also conveyed his greetings and a very warm welcome to the lawmaker.

Following the major losses suffered by PPM in the past two elections which were pivotal to towards the reform of the country, many had abandoned ship and went on to join PNC. These include several members who were in the leadership of PPM. Since then, several changes have also been made to the leadership of the party.

As such, three were appointed as Vice Presidents of the party on Saturday night.

Guraidhoo MP elect, Ghassan Maumoon, Former Housing Minister, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu along with Naifaru MP Ahmed Shiyam was appointed as the Vice President of the party last night.
