Umar Naseer has said that former President Abdulla Yameen is currently contemplating about a new leadership for PPM, and added that he believes President Yameen will reach a decision soon.

He noted that President Yameen still has a great support and that was reason enough for him to be in a position from where he can offer his criticism and ideas about the party and it’s activities.

“The point is to be absent from active leadership. Day to day operations and decision making should be delegated to a new leadership. Room needs to be given to grow a proper opposition,” he said.

Umar alo stressed that President Yameen needs to call for a congress, which will draw potential leaders to it. A fair congress can assure a new leadership for the party, according to the former Home Minister.

He added that President Yameen should not step down from the field and highlighted that it was important for him to remain in a position of power in the party.
