Kinbidhoo MP Abdulla Riyaz has said that there was no new information to be revealed, regarding the murder case of Dr Afrashim Ali.
Speaking during the Raajje Miadhu program of PSM News, Riyaz said that any and all evidence collected regarding the murder of the prominent scholar was with Maldives Police Service. He added that there was no new information to be shared with the Presidential Commission on enforced disappearances and Deaths regarding the case.
Riyaz noted that the police would provide all necessary information regarding the murder of Dr. Afrashim, as required by the commission.
He added that if the commission summons him to clear any information, he would respectfully coordinate – however he noted that he would not initiate a meeting with the commission to share any details of the case. He justified, saying that he does not believe there was a reason for him to go to the commission, when all necessary details were already present with the police.
Dr. Afrashim was murdered in October 2012, when Riyaz was the Commissioner of Police.
