Parliament has stated that invitations will be sent to 3,500 people to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Dr Mohamed Muizzu and Vice President-elect Hussain Mohamed Latheef.

Muizzu's swearing-in ceremony will be held on November 17 at 4:45 p.m. at The Republic Square.

While parliament is preparing for the ceremony, Director of Media Hassan Ziyau told 'One' on Thursday that invitations to attend the ceremony will be sent to around 3,500 people, including heads of state and senior officials of countries.

Interim spokesman Mohamed Firzul Abdullah Khalil had earlier said that invitations were being sent to leaders of all neighbouring countries for Dr. Muizzu's swearing-in ceremony.

Speaker Mohamed Nasheed said he would send an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the ceremony at the request of the interim office, but there has been no further confirmation on whether the invitation was sent or accepted.
