The land reclamation of the first part of Hulhumale' Phase III has been completed.

Urbanco told the media on Friday that 10 hectares of land has been reclaimed from Site A and reclamation has already begun on Site B in Phase III.

Urbanco has asked the civic bodies to remove the vehicles that have been encroached upon in the area by October 22 as site B reclamation is underway.

Capital Marine and Civil Construction (CMC) of Sri Lanka was awarded the task of reclaiming 62.6 hectares of land from Hulhumale' lagoon last August. The company has also been awarded reclamation of Thilafushi and Dhiyaneru Falhu as well.

Urbanco said the project is part of various development projects being undertaken to overcome various difficulties faced by the greater Male' region.

Urbanco said that a number of services and facilities will be developed in Hulhumale' Phase III to make it easier for the people, including roads, bridges, attractive parks, sports and entertainment activities.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs had earlier decided to acquire hulhumale' 3 and allocate the land acquired by the residents of Male' City.

Under the 'Binveriya' scheme, 700 plots will be allotted in Hulhumale' Phase III, including 24 plots of 4,000sqft, 16 plots of 3,650sqft, 43 plots of 3,250sqft, 61 plots of 2,850sqft, 132 plots of 2,450sqft, 243 plots of 2,060sqft and 180 plots of 1,450sqft.
