The PPM/PNC and the coalition parties will form a government that will give priority to Islam and the nationalism of the Maldivian people, President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said on Tuesday.
In a statement issued on the occasion of the day the Maldives embraced Islam, Muizzu said the historical event that brought about the most positive change in the Maldives was the conversion of the country to Islam.
The statement added that the Maldives has remained a 100 percent Muslim country in the long past, which is an example for the whole world, despite many challenges on a global level.
He said the people of Maldives want to face each of these challenges by putting the interests of the people first.
“Hopefully, the PPM-PNC and the coalition government to be formed on 17 November 2023 will be a government that gives top priority to Islam and the nationalism of the people. A government that upholds the sovereignty and pride of this country. A government that will maintain the beautiful behavior, relationships, and ways of the people and raise the name and reputation of the people in the international arena,” the President-elect said in a statement.
