The Maldives National Party (MNP) has announced that it will contest all the upcoming elections in alliance with the PPM/PNC.

Speaking at a council meeting held by the MNP yesterday, Nazim said the coalition agreement signed with the PPM/PNC includes a provision on the three parties contesting elections together.

“If candidates from three parties are contesting in all elections, a primary should be held among the members of the three parties and the winner of the primary should contest the election,” Nazim said.

A candidate who wins the primary will get the full support of the three parties, he said.

Political parties will grow by contesting elections and losing an election will not divide the future of a political party, Nazim said.

It is important for the council members to know the contents of the coalition agreement and the agreement will be shared with the MNP council members very soon, he said.
