Former Health Minister Abdullah Ameen's father Ahmed Manik passed away last Friday night after being seriously injured in an accident in the city.

The 74-year-old died in the ICU of IGMH after the accident.

Doctors had given up hope after he had sustained severe head injuries during the accident.

Ahmed Manik was riding his motorcycle when he was hit by a car near Oxygen Cafe on Boduthakurfaanu Magu.

He is also the father of Maldives' Deputy Ambassador to Japan and former MP Mohammed Ameeth.

His funeral will be held in Hulhumale' after Asru prayers today.
