Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to be invited to the oath-taking ceremony of President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

While the arrangements for the ceremony are being handled by the Parliament administration, Speaker Nasheed told The Hindu newspaper yesterday that he had received a call from the interim president's office asking him to invite Modi to the swearing-in ceremony.

He further noted that the invitation will be extended to PM Modi accordingly, adding that PM Modi will hopefully attend the ceremony in the Maldives.

PM Modi was also invited to attend the oath-taking ceremony of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. He made a brief trip to the Maldives, arriving and departing on the same day of the ceremony.
