President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has sought the Japanese government's help in fulfilling the promises he has made for the next five years.

President-elect Dr. Muizzu made the request during a meeting with Japanese Ambassador to the Maldives, Takeuchi Midori.

During the meeting, President-elect Dr. Muizzu expressed hope that relations with Japan would be further strengthened and taken to a new level during his presidency.

Dr. Muizzu noted that Japan's assistance to the Maldives has given special respect and strength to the Maldivian people and the government.

He also sought the support and participation of the Japanese government in fulfilling the promises made by the new government to the people.

During the meeting, the Japanese Ambassador reaffirmed full cooperation in various areas of development as well as diplomatic ties between the two countries.
