President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that a responsible role awaits Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef (Sembe).

Dr. Muizzu said this in an exclusive interview with One Media today.

Since the introduction of the multi-party system of government in the Maldives, the role of Vice Presidents has been seen differently in different governments. When asked how it would be under Muizzu's government, he praised Vice President Hussain Mohammed Latheef, adding that he is a very capable person.

Regarding Sembe, who is completing his 10th year in Parliament, Dr. Muizzu said that he is an experienced, educated person who knows the democratic process very well and is already involved in it.

"I chose Sembe as my running mate. Sembe has completed his Master's and is playing an important role in our work in democracy. He worked very hard to win this election. The Vice President will play a huge role in my government," Dr. Muizzu explained.

Sembe, a former PPM member, also joined the PNC before the presidential election, the coalition said.
