Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof has announced his intention to run for Mayor of Male' City.

The post of Mayor of Male' City will fall vacant after Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is sworn in as President of Maldives.

The Election Commission is yet to announce the date for the by-election to select a candidate for the post.

Mahloof announced his decision to contest the by-election in a post on X. Mahloof sought the support of all the people of male' city in his post with the campaign logo.

Mahloof has previously served as an MP from Galolhu South constituency.
