The Democrats have announced that they will participate in the government of President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, who won the presidential election yesterday.
The Democrats' Founder and Henveiru Dhekunu MP Hassan Latheef made the announcement on Twitter on Sunday night.
"The Democrats will participate in the government of Dr. Mohamed Muizzu," Hassan Latheef said.
Mohamed Nasheed, founder of the Democrats and speaker of parliament, also reposted Hassan Latheef's post from his unofficial account.
Speaking to One, Abdul Raheem Abdulla (Adhurey), who is in charge of the PPM-PNC administration, said that there are no official talks yet on the participation of The Democrats in the government and that there is no official agreement to include the Democrats in the government even during the campaign period.
"Dr. Muizzu has said during the campaign that he would welcome those who wish to work together," Adhurey said.
