Sixty days have been added to the remand period of the man who vandalised the ballot box in GDh. Vaadhoo.

The last person in line to cast his vote at Vaadhoo polling booth smashed the ballot box after being informed he cannot vote without a valid ID card.

The accused was arrested on Saturday.

The 35-year-old Maldivian man has been ordered a 60-day remand period by a local court.

According to the Election Commission, although the ballot box was broken, no ballot papers were missing. As such, the ballots were counted and result for box was announced on Saturday night.
