The founder of The Democrats and Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has said that the party will need MDP PPM/PNC's support to achieve their objectives.

In a message to a WhatsApp group of Democrats' supporters, he said he believed that their support would also be needed to achieve the democratic goals.

"Their support is crucial until The Democrats is well-established" he said.

Nasheed's message comes in the wake of The Democrats pushing a resolution of a systemic vote into parliament. The parliament has asked Election Commission (EC) to hold the referendum.

EC has stated that if they receive the needed budget, a systemic vote will be held on October 30.

Meanwhile Nasheed has also said that he is ready to rejoin MDP if he has 50 percent support in the party's national council.
