President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has thanked President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for transferring PPM/PNC leader, former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom to his residence.

Speaking to reporters after winning the presidential election on Saturday, Dr. Muizzu urged President Solih to shift Yameen home.

The Maldives Corrections Service transferred Yameen home this evening where a large number of his supporters had gathered. President-elect Dr. Muizzu and senior PPM/PNC leaders were also present at Yameen's residence to receive him.

In an interview with Channel 13 following his meeting with President Solih today, Dr. Muizzu shared some of the discussions that took place at the meeting. President Solih noted that Yameen's transfer to his home was the best course of action in the country's interests, Dr. Muizzu said.

He added that President Solih noted that the people of the country had spoken out and that was one of the reasons for the transfer.

Dr. Muizzu said he was pleased with President Solih's decision to move Yameen home, adding that it would be easier for him to decide on certain aspects of the government based on his advice and consultation.
