PPM/PNC leader, former President Abdullah Yameen has been transferred to his home.

Yameen, was brought to the capital city under the custody of the Maldives Corrections Service at 3:28 p.m. The PPM/PNC coalition leadership and a large number of supporters gathered near Yameen's residence to welcome him.

The PNC presidential candidate, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, won the presidential election held yesterday. Muizzu has also asked President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih to transfer Yameen home.

He was sentenced to 11 years in prison for accepting bribes and laundering bribes in connection with the lease transaction of Vaavu Aarah, Former Felidhoo MP Yousuf Naeem was sentenced to three years, two months and 12 days in jail.

The appeal hearings are pending in the High Court.
