PPM/PNC Leader, Former President Abdullah Yameen has been brought to the city to be transferred under house arrest.

Yameen was brought to the city by the Maldives Corrections Service at 3:28 p.m.

A large number of supporters have gathered near his residence as he is being transferred home. And they are expressing their happiness.

While Yameen is being transferred to house arrest, the 2023 presidential election was won by PNC presidential candidate Dr. Mohammed Muizzu.

He was sentenced to 11 years in prison for accepting bribes and laundering bribes in connection with the lease transaction of Vaavu Aarah. Former Felidhoo MP Yousuf Naeem was sentenced to three years, two months and 12 days in jail.

The appeal hearings are pending in the High Court.
